This year’s edition of the annual BET awards set in place to honor hardworking musicians and their act came off on Tuesday night, October 27, and the evening was owned by one of the hottest females rappers in the game.
Ghana did not get nomination this year, but the flag of the country was still high in some major works at the awards. Rapper Kwesi Arthur was featured in the BET Hip Hop cypher and Sarkodie Presented an award for the best international flow which he won last year.
Megan Thee Stallion scored the wins for Hustler of the Year, Hip Hop Artist of the Year and a shared Best Collaboration with singer Beyoncé for their “Savage (Remix), “which also earned Beyoncé the Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse award.
Roddy Ricch won Song of the Year and Album of the Year for “Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial.”
Pop Smoke, who was killed in February during a home invasion, was posthumously crowned Best New Hip Hop Artist.
There were also plenty of performances, including 2 Chainz featuring Lil Wayne, City Girls and the awards show’s famous cyphers that brought together various performers.
Burna Boy and Coldplay Chris Martin used their powerful performance of “Monsters You Made” to pay tribute to victims of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) that has been dissolved by the Nigerian govt.
